Artist Spotlight: Alli Micucci

Alli is an amazing talent at the heart of our BIJOU team! She loves working with brides and lives for all things hair and makeup! Traveling between Southern California and Hawaii for wedding work, she is highly-experienced and not to mention fun to be around. We just love her!

How did you get your start in the beauty industry?

I got started in the beauty industry a little late because I went to college first! I got a M.B.A. in Marketing and worked for 7 plus years in this industry. I became really burnt out and wanted to do something more creative. There was a cosmetology school down the street from where I was living at the time and so I decided to go see what it as all about. The minute I stepped through the door I knew that I had found my passion.

What excites you the most about working with brides?
Working with brides is amazing! This is one of the most important days of their lives and to be such an integral part is special to me. Everytime she looks at her wedding photos she can see the hair and makeup and I want to make sure that what she sees is timeless and beautiful!
Where do you get your inspiration for the looks you create?
Inspirations for me are looks that I feel will never go out of style or that will adapt through time. Audrey Hepburn popularized the French twist and it is an element that we continue to use today. We have modernized Audrey’s French twist but it is a staple in styling. I also love award shows!
Can you share an experience from a wedding that made you love your job even more?
I had the honor of styling a bride who’s mom had passed away and she really wanted to use her mom’s brooch in her hair. The poor bride hadn’t had any luck attaching combs or getting the brooch to stay in her hair. After styling her hair and makeup she started to put her dress on and I took the brooch and was able to find some florists tape and attach a couple of bobby pins to the brooch! We were able to put it in her hair and make it stay! It was great knowing that the bride’s day was a little extra special!
What is your advice for brides?
My advice for brides is this.. Relax and enjoy!
What is your secret weapon product?
My secret weapon is the Twirl by Maleana Cosmetics. It is a little heated eyelash curler that can make even the most stubborn and straight lashes curl. It helps make even the smallest eyes appear bigger!

“Alli Micucci did my hair and makeup for my wedding in October of 2007. She is not only a truly talented and professional stylist
but she is also and incredibly caring person. She listened closely to what I had envisioned for my special day and made sure each step of the way that it was met. She spent time talking about makeup colors and what would look best with my dress and my skin tone. She did trial runs of my hair until we both felt we had found the perfect style. Simply put, Alli made me feel beautiful on my wedding day. My hair and makeup was exactly what I had envisioned and  I was so grateful to her for that. I would recommend Alli wholeheartedly to anyone looking to feel beautiful on their wedding day or any other special day. I look back at that day and at my pictures and am so happy that Alli was my stylist.” – Carrie Ricardi

How did you get your start in the beauty industry?

All throughout my life I’ve fallen in love with art. A great advice was told to me “do what you love and love what you do”, so I went to school and became a certified makeup artist. 5 years later I’m happier than ever..!

Can you share an experience from a wedding that made you love your job even more?

The most memorable wedding I did was with a cancer survivor. She was such a beautiful and positive soul. Her wedding day was nothing but smiles and happy tears, I’ll admit my eyes got a little watery. She was so touched and said “I have not felt this pretty in a long time”. Totally made my day.

What is your advice for brides?

I would always tell brides to “take it all in and have the best time ever!” a whole lot of planning for one special day, make it memorable.

Reviews From Past Brides

“Pam is a fantastic make up artist. She is truly talented and beautifies everything she touches. I loved my make up she did for me on my wedding day, and she made my mother look young enough to be my sister! Everyone raved about my makeup and most importantly, it stayed fresh all day. In fact, I don’t even remember doing any touch ups during my busy event. I would definately recommend Pam for her talent, her professionalism and her deep understanding of how to achieve the look you want on your
wedding day.” -Anh Vo

“I got married in March 2011 and Pam provided make-up artistry for me and my bridal party. I was very happy with my make up and it showed wonderfully all day long. Each of us girls have different color skin and Pam was able to match each person’s tone perfectly with their neck, chest and arms. I realized how important this was after looking at group pictures of the bridal party in strapless dresses. I could tell it was important to her personally that we were happy with how we looked. She was very sweet
and I enjoyed having her part of my wedding day. I would recommend her to all my friends and any one looking for quality make-up artistry by a talented artist.” – Alexis Lawrence

“I hired Pam to do the makeup for myself and my bridal party. Like most brides, it was an incredibly stressful day, but Pam was very calming and easygoing. She listened to the feedback from each of the ladies and catered to their comfort zone while offering her professional suggestions at the same time. I thought everyone looked absolutely beautiful…glamorous but natural at the same time. It was truly a magical night.”  -Mary Troung

Although I was a tomboy growing up, I always had bows in my hair and sparkles somewhere. I was the girl who would do everyone’s hair for prom or on a friday night with nothing to do. While working for MAC for many years, I was able used my hair skills also. I becoming the key hair stylist for all San Diego MAC Industry Events. Although I loved the high fashion, glitz and glam of fashion shows and runways, my passion was in bridal!
